Mary Katrantzou Spring 2016 RTW w. That Cheesecake Lovin'

Seriously this bid never fails me. To explain her overall feel, I would say she pushes the envelope just enough to question.. but not enough to ever know the answer! Ahh.

I love Mary Katrantzou. Probz my fave designer. Actually ya, she is. She takes trends and brings them outside the box, giving a new and unexpected perspective of what is considered the "norm". Making trends more than just "trendy"--the annoying everyone-wears-that-kind-of definition of trendy. Katrantzou takes on that challenge and makes it work in an effortless looking way every time. Every time.

This is why I chose Mary Ktrantzou's Spring 2016 Ready-to-Wear Collection for this cheesecake matching post. I'm always pumped to see her runway shows. She's always keeping me on my toes with her delightfully unexpected collections.

In this collection she gave the boho & floral styles a more formal, finished look. While also playing off of the knee highs/tights trend by cutting off the toes of the tights. It gives the feminine sweetness of these pieces a kind of rad touch--another example of Mary Katrantzou changing up the trend game. She just does it so well.. not over it. That's geniussss, the tights come off as both socks and tights.. like, yaaaaaas.

As you can tell I'm kind of obsessed with these tights! Can't help it, won't help it. Like look at that one little black stripe on the top of the right leg... it's just, cool. Without even trying too hard to be cool. I love it. Along with da sparkles and the colors' contrast and smooth blend.

The cheesecake is from +Vanessa @ VeganFamilyRecipes (lean how to make this yumz here: http://www.veganfamilyrecipes.com/2014/07/vegan-blueberry-lime-cheesecake.html).

I thought this cheesecake had the perfect color combo in resembling the color theme of this look. The topping spread is almost the same shade of the raspberry-purplish tights.

Now if you zoom in onto the dress you will see a little strand of green on each side of the dress--a.k.a the green shavings of lime topped on the cheesecake. Right doe??

The blueberries really do it for me as the dark blue shade of the dress. While the crust resembles the more orange color around the shoulders. Almost even in a crust like area. If a dress had a crust like area, it would be up by around there on the outsides.

Lastly, the white of the cheesecakey-ness. That part to me is like the sparkles that shimmer here and there. Considering you can only see a bit of the cheesecake's white part lying underneath all those delish toppings and between the crunchy crust, it's almost like the same effect.

Ahhh, this dress has the smallest hint of military-esq feel to me that I think really works with the elegant, feminine vibe going on at the same time.

It's the stiffness of the dress with the design structure going down it and the tie-up heals that gives me that little bit of militaryness. While the florals make it feminine and sweet at the same time. Katrantzou can even take florals to the next level. Just when I thought I was over that trend... she kills it. K.

The length is perfect making it "appropriate" but not conservative. And the colors are both strong and sweet.

This berry cheesecake is created by the Lady Behind The Curtain, a blog about how to entertain easily and conveniently.

The colors of this dress are totes reppin' the berry feelz. From the different shades of purples, blues and reds to the different shapes and sizes of the berries, resmeblin' the various flower patterns of the dress. Mmmz, yummy berry flowers :) I wish those were real.

This dress feels outer spacey and earthy to me at the same time!! Ahhhh.

With the burnt orange leggings bringing out the earthiness. While the light purple down the middle of the dress gives a more space vibe with the light gold astrological star/planet looking design overlaying it. Even the black on the sides of the dress compliments the spaceness with a dark galaxy feel.

And these chokers~~~ cannot deny a choker, especially put in a not 90s setting like this. Mary Katrantzou taking trends and making them their own once again.

This cheeseycake is made of ube... never heard of it until now. I think ube is made of purple yams from what I've read--pretty sweet. Literally. And there are ube jams as well. Anyway, this cheesecake is from Annie's Chamorro Kitchen. She does it up Guam style.

The cheesecake's purple color is an obvious match to the dress's purple, and the orange caramelized sugar topping matches the leggings perf. Even the spotting of the caramelized sugar reminds of the astrological starry/planet-ish design overlaying the purple. All around a universally delish combo.

Thanks for reading.

Hope you enjoyed :D
